Learn The Trick! Autonomous sensory meridian response ASMR is a calming, pleasurable feeling often accompanied by a tingling sensation. The stimuli that trigger ASMR vary from person to person. It was around that time that she ran across a group of people on a steadyhealth. Frustrated by the lack of community organization on that forum, she created a Facebook group called Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response Group. She wanted to create a community that would bring together people who had also been experiencing this sensation. She consciously created a term that she felt people would be comfortable using: one that sounded objective, clinical, and impersonal. Soon after, a worldwide community began to take shape.

As a kid, I found that I always enjoyed certain sounds—particularly the sounds my grandmother made when chewing gum or sucking on hard candies while she played Solitaire at the dining room table. I liked these sounds so much, in fact, that when friends would come over to my house, I would offer them gum and candy just so that I could hear those sounds. Also known as ASMR, it is the tingling sensation or relaxation that a person experiences when they hear certain sounds. While one person might love the sound of gum being chewed, another person may be driven crazy by it. Thanks to YouTube, ASMR has experienced a surge in popularity these past few years, with fans and artists around the world connecting via the platform to form their own ASMR community, where they share and watch videos made by one another.
